From first thought to finished floors

Work backwards from your move-in date. A realistic six-week path from first thought to finished floors.

  1. Week 1-2

    Dream & budget

    • Gather inspiration and set a realistic budget range.
    • Choose flooring for how you live, not just how it photographs.
    • Visit your local showroom with room measurements in hand.
  2. Week 3-4

    Choose & order

    • Select your product and live with samples for a week.
    • Get an installation estimate and book your installer.
    • Order material with 10-15% overage built in.
  3. Week 5

    Prep the room

    • Confirm delivery and schedule old-floor removal.
    • Move furniture and pull baseboards if needed.
    • Acclimate material in the room for 48-72 hours.
  4. Week 6

    Boots on the ground

    • Final walkthrough, subfloor inspection, and prep.
    • Installation begins. Timeline scales with project scope.
    • Move in and live on your new floors.

Smart questions to ask

Walk into any showroom, ours or anyone else's, with the questions that protect your budget and timeline.

01

Ask the store

  • What's included: just material, or install too?
  • Can I see this product installed in a real setting?
  • What happens if a shipment arrives defective?
02

Ask the pro

  • Are you insured, and do you sub the work out?
  • Can I see three photos of recent jobs like mine?
  • Will you inspect and prep the subfloor before laying?
03

Ask yourself

  • Who lives here: kids, pets, aging parents?
  • Where does moisture live in this house?
  • What's my full budget: material, labor, and extras?

A good answer to a good question is worth a thousand showroom visits.
